Perhaps you have heard that vitamin A helps with eyesight but do you know that vitamin A comes in two types? Retinol also goes by the name preformed vitamin A is obtained by consuming meat and dairy. The second type, provitamin A comes from plant-based foods like sweet potatoes and carrots.

If you live in a developed country or where you have easy access to a wide variety of foods, then it is unlikely for you to be deficient. A deficiency causes an eye condition where it is difficult to see in low light. Vitamin A might also lower the risk of some cancers.
