Selenium

Selenium is a nutrient that helps our thyroid to function properly. Selenium, like antioxidants, helps to reduce free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals can cause a host of issues including cancer and other unwanted diseases. Selenium also helps with reproductive health and helps the body to steer clear from infection. Deficiency of selenium can be very serious and can include infertility, fatigue, brain fog, and even recurrent miscarriage.

Luckily, selenium is naturally occurring in many foods. If you have access to a wide variety of foods you should not be deficient. Consuming too much selenium can have adverse effects, so be careful taking supplements unless you are certain that you have a deficiency.
